Over 5 years now since Barry’s gone. I had our regular lunch yesterday with Dennis Franko and Jerry Skavinski. The four of us were inseparable through High School and University, staying in touch forever after. Barry made those years magical and we miss him terribly, talking about him every time. - Posted by: Dave Leschasin (Friend) on: Jan 23, 2020

Barry.. You are lonely gone in body.. Your smile, the sound of your laughter will always be ingrained in my memory of you. Good times over a cold beer. Thanks for including me in your life. RIP dear friend. - Posted by: Ede Wolk (Friend, colleague) on: Jul 27, 2014

Those of us who grew up with Barry and those who met him in later years, knew him as a fun loving kind person with a big heart. We had many a good time growing up in Oakburn and living in Winnipeg. I will always cherish those memories. My condolences to Myra and to Barry's family. So long old friend, may you rest in peace. - Posted by: Peter Lamb Sr (Friend) on: Jul 11, 2014

Barry was a friend for the last 30 years, both in wpg, vancouver and montreal. The last time i saw barry was st the premiere of my feature film poe in montreal that myra worked on the stage play as designer. Barry was a rock solid guy that always had a listening ear and a deep sincere caring for his friends.. We are so fragile inside and what seems to be on the outside is not what we feel on the insdie.. Barry lived fully and with a feverish passion for life, only surpassed by his devotion to his soul Mate myra. You live in our hearts forever. - Posted by: Brent fidler (Friend) on: Jun 17, 2014

Myra from my CJUM days, Barry from my time with CBC. I always loved that two good people I knew had made a great life together. And now I have heard this very sad news. Myra, I am so sorry. My thoughts are with you. - Posted by: Lisa Kolisnyk (Friend) on: Jun 17, 2014

Barry was one of the sweetest and gentlest souls we had met. We used to have so much fun together at their cabin on Bowen when we first moved to Vancouver... One of the first friends we have made in the new city. Sincere condolences to Myra... Love and light. - Posted by: Blaine and Yuna (Friend) on: Jun 09, 2014

Shocked and deeply saddened by Barry's passing. I like others could easily see the great love between him and Myra, the few times I met her at a CBc event. I knew Barry on a regular basis through just being in the CBc building. We always had a bit of a laugh. Very skilled and patient with producers and talent. Seeing Johnny Martin's post reminded me yes of his kidness to new young up-and-comers like Johnny. I was laid off - he was very empathetic. When I turned around and wrote a book about the Lennon/Ono Bed-in he was the firsto order at least 6 copies for friends. God speed him on his way. oxo - Posted by: Joan Athey (Friend from CBC Vancouve) on: Jun 05, 2014

I knew Barry from my high school days and I thought he was not only the coolest guy in Rossburn High but also the nicest. I remember school dances and a gang of us going Christmas carolling, all bunched up in someone's car in the freezing winter. I moved to England and Myra and Barry stayed at mine a few times in between travelling, I think that's the last time I saw him. I can't believe he's gone. My thoughts are with Myra and his family. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Lee Leschasin (Friend) on: Jun 05, 2014

I had great respect for Barry. He loved my sister dearly. Barry was a good husband for Myra. They travelled together and shared many things. He loved music and the arts and was talented in them. He had many friends. We will miss him until we meet again. - Posted by: Maxine Corrington (Sister-in-law) on: Jun 03, 2014

I first met Barry when he moved with Myra into our condo building in Montreal. I would see Barry « out and about » as he used to say, nearly on a daily basis, except for the winter months when he and Myra would travel to India. He always wore a smile and spoke in a gentle voice. Everyone in our building thought he was a good and generous man. He will be missed by all of us. Our thoughts go out to Myra, his family, friends and everyone who knew and loved him. May you rest in peace Barry. - Posted by: Lorraine (Neighbour) on: Jun 03, 2014

Barry was one of those classy guys from our school days gone by. There was a group of guys that Barry hung around with back then that I know are in disbelief. Barry was a loyal true friend, loved his rock and roll, eg David Bowie, and wore an unforgettable smile. I am happy that after many years of being away from home, Barry came to the Year 2000 celebration in Oakburn to reunite with his classmates. To the family, Russell and I send our deepest sympathy. May your faith help and comfort you through this time. - Posted by: Hanna Matiowsky ( nee Bucklaschuk) (Oakburn school friend) on: Jun 03, 2014

I never knew Barry that well, but I was always aware of how much pleasure he gave to those who knew him. People always spoke of how much fun they had traveling with him, and his own special insights into different situations. He will be missed by the people who knew him best. - Posted by: Carolyn Gillespie (friend) on: Jun 02, 2014

.. Barry was a pal all the way back to my rock n' Roll days and he married my good friend Myra.. He was a solid bear and always stood by his friends, loyal, open hearted and kind. He had a real passion for life and for his wife.. He is deeply missed and taken from us much too soon. May peace be with you now Barry. - Posted by: Brent fidler (Friend) on: Jun 01, 2014

A man that took me into his life entirely. He taught me skills at work and showed me new ways of life and living. I was far from home, far from everything I knew. He made my life better, no question. I will miss when we laughed so hard we cried so much - Posted by: Johnny Martin (Friend/Student) on: May 31, 2014
